Hi,
Just recently I have been having some issues with my Victa powertorque mower.
It is difficult to start, used to start first go. Now it takes about 5 pulls before it even wants to attempt to start and then I have to keep pumping the primer for awhile until it will eventually idle on it's own.
It seems to be reving higher than it usually did.
Now when it comes to cutting the grass it just wants to die right down, no power at all.
Any idea what I should be looking at? I'm thinking something with the carby. I've pulled the fuel bowl off and it all looks good there.
Thanks

There is only one problem that is a perfect fit to all of those symptoms: an induction air leak. On the Powertorque there are two common ways for that to happen: failure of the O-ring in the intake manifold, or failure of the O-ring that seals the top part of the crankcase (underneath the starter).

Thanks for that, I pulled the plastic manifold off and the o-ring was damaged.
All the shops would have been closed, so I pulled out an assorted o-ring kit that I had and did the best I could to find one that was reasonably close.
Well now it starts pretty much straight away and there was plenty of power to cut the grass.
Thinking I should probably go out and buy the correct o ring next week as i'm not sure if what I used is even rated for petrol. I think it's probably a good idea to change the carby to manifold o ring as well while I am at it.
Are they a specific victa part obtainable only from a mower shop or will a bearing shop or similar be able to help me out? If so anyone know the correct sizes
Thanks

All O-rings are rated for oil. You can get things of that shape that are not O-rings, but you won't find them in kits. If the one you used fits properly, you should be good to go, but if it didn't fit it might just leak a bit without actually stopping the music. You should be able to find Victa ones at the on-line store on this site. I don't know if they are standard size O-rings or not. If they are, the one from your kit may be the right size.
