Hi Jay, this seem to be good advice as I've seen this method used, with no disasterous results, providing it is done with care, obviously!! grin

The only thing that you have to be careful with is not to damage the seal (as it is rubber) and if heated too much you will have issues with air leaks. cheers2

Yes Joe I agree with you that if you heat up the boss you should replace the seal. cheers2

Hi all,
I do agree that you need to be careful about the seals, but I only ever heat engine parts with a kero blow torch anyway to avoid damage (they donοΏ½t get all that hot!). I personally have only really removed the boss to replace the seals or dismantle the lower end-witch I usually replace the seal anyway.
Does anyone have any idea of the working temp of there seal as I would assume it would be pretty high anyway.
Thanks for your help
Regards jay

Jay,

That's a good question about the working temp of the seal and maybe someone has the answer. If I get a chance I will check with my supplier and see if they can put some light onto the matter.

I normally use OXY acetylene to heat stuff as a last resort and when you use that you need to replace seals because of the extreme heat generated. cheers2
