Finally got around to ordering the red Honda engine cover ,it was $16. saw a few cheaper ones but you had to be a new buyer on the site or another cheaper one had a minimum spend of $40.
The colour on my camera must be a little out because in the images the engine cover looks a bit pinkish but it's more a dark red.
I hadn't started the Honda trimmer for months and it started 3rd go on the starter with old fuel in the tank so it's still running well.
One article I was reading the other day said to only use fuel that is one month old as they said at that time it's already degrading , they were talking about fuel with mower usage a little extreme to replace your fuel every month.
Then again fuel in an unsealed mower tank that is exposed to air can degrade quicker ,in a sealed container, fuel can last a few months.
98 RON high-octane, premium fuel is all I use , the 98 if it does get left in the carby long term it's more prone to gum up the carby than when using 91 which corrodes the inside more.
Yes this one should last a lot of years Norm ,I've been thinking of taking the motor off and bolting it to a gearbox I have with a sprocket then connecting it to a self drive axle on a mower.
I think it sounds more difficult than it is to do Norm as I already have a Rover chain driven back drive line and the motor bolts straight to the chain drive gearbox so it's just a matter of fitting the back axle and mounting the motor with gearbox and fit a chain. .I was thinking of this self drive on my LPG side discharge mower.
