Is it just me or are the old 2 stroke 125cc's ridiculously loud confused I guess its to be expected when the "Muffler" is just a tube of metal redirecting it under the deck. Whenever I try starting mine it almost feels like a gunshot haha... enough to give me a bit of a shock. Just wondering if anybody else experiences this or if the extreme noise could be something bad.

No I don't think they are very loud, if the alloy muffler has all the gaskets sealing properly and the metal baffle
is in place and not leaking where it's pressed in and not rusted out these mowers are quiet if you're talking about the
old Victa 18, but have seen a lot of people that say they are loud and don't realize they have a muffler problem.

The later 125 and 160 are not loud if the muffler is in good condition.

The Sheerline ad jingle was something like" the hush tone muffler makes the motor sound low"

There are original Victa sales ads on Youtube and the motors aren't loud

Cheers

Thanks for the help Max. The exhaust port has 2 thread holes but my exhaust only has 1 slot for a bolt. I don't have a gasket on, however I will make one. Is it possible that i have the wrong exhaust type? I will also change it because one of my exhausts has a loose baffle but the spare's baffle is properly sealed in. The first time I ever got it running with a mate on Inox MX3 was nuts! So loud the neighbour inside her house could tell it was a few steps above a regular mower!

Cheers, Xav

If you have a leak on these mowers it's loud like having no muffler at all.

The muffler on the Victa 18 just uses one bolt to hold it on ,eBay sell the correct gaskets ,they are a thick gasket,
sometimes the alloy on the muffler is warped where it bolts onto the port and they won't seal properly also check
the end of the baffle is blocked as you get a lot of rusted out baffles.

As you tighten the bolt on the side of the barrel you need to push the muffler towards the base so that gasket can
seal.

There is a metal plate under the alloy base and that gasket must be sealing also. It's not uncommon to find this
metal plate cracked and leaking.

Cheers
Max.
