Hi all,
I have got my hands on a Masport Olympic 660. After a general tidy up it appears to be in great condition. I am struggling to find much information on it via google and outdoor king forums.
Main things i would like to know are:
- What year this make would be?
- Is there a user manual/parts list for this model?
- Do current masport olympic parts fit this older type?
Thanks in advance!

Hi Butchy8,

The DOM 6331 A , Date of manufacture and the 6 is the year but not sure of the decade as I've never owned this model mower.

1986 ???

The only manuals I see are with different engines but the other parts are most likely the same.

Someone else may know more here.

Cheers
Max.

Bigted is right, it would be a 1996 model.

Tecumseh has been out of business for many years, ebay is your best bet for replacement carby and potentially a coil, GA spares (available through any good mower shop or ODK site) have a few carby parts and air filters and drive cables.

Many parts are the same as newer 660's. clutch is the same (occasionally weak) and clutch springs readily available.

One thing that isn't is the front double sprocket which is chain driven from the motor and drives the chain to the rear roller.

Older models were left hand thread (hence unscrew clockwise), newer ones are regular thread.

Pretty sure they don't make them anymore - they were hard to get pre covid from memory.

Solid enough mower

Looks like it could do with new rollers at the front. Go to a local mens shed or someone you know who has a lathe and turn up some new ones from a hard wood. Masport don't sell wood ones anymore and the steel replacements are eye-wateringly expensive given how many you need for a 660. Also a good opportunity to increase the diameter of the rollers if you intend on mowing buffalo as the maximum 30mm cut height is slightly low in my opinion for buffalo.

Thanks for all of your input fellas! Much appreciated 😊

Yes i was thinking the same thing with the rollers, i take it there isn't a genuine Masport solid one piece roller?

I have the feeling it doesn't need much work at the moment, starts up fine just needs a bit of a sharpen. More for future reference!

No genuine full roller for the 660 but if you buy a length of 2.5inch exchaust pipe and a couple of scott bonnar roller ends you could make one up.

Yes I agree guys the motor looks more like 1996, it was just when I did a search on ODK it came up as seventies or eighties.

Hi Max
Its really a silly numbering system as similar motors 10 years apart have the same date code

So basically if someone rang up a mower shop with the model and serial number, unless you have a photo of the thing there is no easy way to work it out - tecumseh fixed the problem later in the 90s and added a digit.
