The last couple of starts have had a puff of whitish smoke on start up that immediately clears but the smoke is quite thick. This is after the mower has sat for several days both times. It wasn't doing this before.
What the BH is going on?

It sounds like the valve guides are worn or the valve seals are leaking.

Sometimes if the oil level is too high you get smoke on start up.
