I've got enough to play with.

Broken umbrellas (particularly big golf umbrellas) are handy for the canvas part in covering mowers out in the open. Just make sure it's secure.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

G'day Speedy and Mf,

The 2 stroke Falcon would be from the late eighties to the nineties,Jetfast / SupaSwift

The Komatsu Zenoah Venture – In May 1987, Briggs & Stratton entered into an agreement with yet another Japanese company, executing a 10-year contract with the Komatsu Zenoah Company of Tachikawa, Japan. Under the terms of the contract, Komatsu would manufacture a 2-cycle, 4 hp (3 kW) engine, in which Briggs & Stratton would purchase and distribute in the United States, Europe, Australia and New Zealand., "This venture was not successful, because the rising price of the yen made the engine too expensive in the U.S etc.

Cheers
Max.

Plus Americans rather dumb when it comes to mixing fuel with oil. Plus our EPA is frowning on 2 cycles. This why they are being con into buying premix fuels that are up to 4X the cost of fuel/oil done in house. That is why I sell a multi mix oil for gallon containers.

Personally I rather have a good 2 cycle any day over a 4 cycle engine. With that there are a few good 4 cycle engines in the handheld line up that are very good but I still prefer the Stihl 4 mix version over them. My next choice is a diesel as they have just as long of life as most two cycle engines.

I send a lot of the 4 cycle handhelds to the recyclers early. Maybe they get a year of use before they croak.

Yes those don't oil very well at all when use in any position than upright. I do same here with them as I send the customer on their un-merry way. TB only sells a short block to repair and bythe time I one hr of labor (and takes long than that to do swap out) it cost nearly as much as a new replacement trimmer/blower.

Hi Speedy. I use one of those B&S Komatsu I/Cs on a Super Swift Big Bob from the late '80's. fitted with a couple of weird-size victor high flutes, and a hackabout reduced ejection chute, it does a surprisingly good job of mulching. Heavy motor tho- about 14.5Kg for 140cc
If the pics come out you'll see HD welding to keep the frame together!
