This HG Palmer mower has come my way as a trade for parts with another collector, the Briggs and Stratton engine oozes workmanship and pride from days gone by

Engine Model is 81706 and good old USA I was able to download the engine manual from the Briggs and Stratton web site

And as luck would have it I had the missing badge siting in my spares, it was for sale on fellow member Kye's Facebook page for $20 so I grabbed it :-)

This mower is in fantastic condition and will only be getting a service and a clean.

Photobucket want $400 per year, will have to find something else now. Wonder if all my past posts have been blocked also?

Looks like blackmail, pay up or you don't see your images again. What a loss, all my photos in my posts gone :-(

It's an absolute rip off isn't it. Yes I can't see any of your photos.

I can't see how they will survive as most people will find alternative methods than pay $400 per year.

P.S. Can you upload directly rather than use PB? Although it doesn't work on iPads for some reason.

G'day Paul and LRT

There will be an upgrade to this site and the end of this month.
It will include a new image uploader that is mobile device friendly (we hope).

I hope we can restore Paul's previous posts as they have much
valuable information.

Cheers

Hello Jack and LRT,

That is welcome news, I think I can download my images from Photobucket and save them but what a mess.

It smacks of the cyber gangs that lock your computer until you pay their fee in Bit coins, I doubt too many of their customers are going to cough for $400 which is probably US dollars as well.

These kinds of "cyber-scams" are becoming very common. Recently I spent two hours vectoring a jpeg file using an online tool that was advertized as being "free". I finally got to the end and pressed "copy file". All I got was a small popup screen asking for my credit card details and telling me they wanted $14.95 per month. For something I will only use once or twice in 20 years, it was not worth it, so I had to lose all of my hard work. Obviously by "free" they meant "free to try and use" but not free to download your work.

G'day all
The thing that is also increasingly common is 'subscriptions'.
As in Microsoft or Adobe products.

Paul, I hope our new up-loader (due shortly) will meet your needs.
I am happy to work with you to restore images to your valuable posts.

Photobucket get, typically, 1 star reviews.
I recommend we host your images on these forums.

Cheers

Hi Paul
Yep, I lover these HG Palmer Deluxe utilities.

I have recorded them also with Villiers 2 and 4 stroke engines.

Here's a bit more on the 8 Series:-
[Note how Briggs always had a safe version of the wind-up starter,
that required the release of a rotary knob.]

Here's what the catcher looked like (Pope inspired)

Hi Jack,
Thank you for editing my post and replacing the photos, it would be nice to find a catcher one day :-)

I spent a good part of Saturday servicing and cleaning, this mower really is in nice original condition. Gave it an oil change using straight 30 weight Penrite oil and also fitted the front badge that I bought previously:-)

Yes, a very nice, original condition - machine.

These Deluxe Utilities were probably HG Palmer's second design.
It remains a mystery who actually made them.

Cheers

Good Morning ODK Members,

A while since I posted as Covid and floods have taken there toll over the past year or so. My collection has shrunk and a lot of my harder to find mowers have been rehomed.

I still have some nice machines in my collection and added this HG Palmer 4 Stroke Utility to the herd. Love the Villiers engine and it runs sweetly.
