G/Day All, would anyone be able to identify this flywheel, it looks identical to a rotomo one the only difference is the diameter of shaft hole which is smaller.
Cheers.
Maurice.

Hi Maurice,

I remember having a flywheel like this one and I removed it from a Jap 4 stroke motor.

Hmm I don't remember seeing the flywheel for many years now but I might still have the Jap motor to get a measurement
of the crankshaft,

Cheers
Max.

G’day Maurice and Max

I know I’ve seen a similar design before, I was thinking maybe Villiers?

Cheers

it"s a Wipac. I had one on a Villiers engine on my Howard Bullfinch..... Hatch was so you could adjust points without taking flywheel off..

Jap and Villiers use the same flywheel, JAP merged with Villiers in 1957.

17 mm centre.

Yes, I’m sure it’s the same thing.

I’ve never had a JAP engine myself, but have played about with a couple of Villiers, hence my suggestion. I do know that wipac is (or at least was) an aftermarket parts supplier with facilities in Buckinghamshire, England. Sort of similar in some respects to what Bynorm was here. They had facilities in Bletchley, famous for Bletchley Park where the code breakers were stationed during world war 2.

So it's not a Jap or Villiers Lightweight 4 stroke flywheel Maurice.

I haven't had this type of flywheel with a taper before , possibly Speedy may remember if the Howard Bullfinch had a taper
otherwise could be from a different Villiers or Jap or BSA motor.

Max I have a hard time remembering what happened last week........ but I posted the data on ODK in 2016. Just found it.

Tapered, and that's the puller I made to get it off. I think it came off pretty easily.
cheers speedy

Yes that's the problem when it's a while ago ,I don't think I've used a Villiers 4 stroke since the eighties.

Thanks Speedy for that info. ,I've now looked at a few old Villiers 4 stroke motors, the 12 A motor , the Mark 10 and Mark 12 and they also
have a tapered crankshaft but haven't seen exactly the same flywheel as at the start of this thread but looks like it should fit.

My memory is very clear for some things and absolutely useless for others.

I can see with absolute clarity a Villiers motor with the flywheel covered in dust and spider webs in the back of my grandfather’s stables. Some things I did last week I can’t remember at all!
