Picked this mower up from the local tip shop. Its a Victa Commando 2 stroke in pretty good condition. Put fuel in it and started and ran fine with about 6 pulls. I wonder at what point they decided it was not cutting so decided it needed to be disposed of lol

Hi Topcat58, did it have a nice vibration to go with it?

Hi MadMower, It was actually not too bad. I wonder at what point they decided to get rid of it and how long it had been sitting. Did they decide that the catcher wasn't picking up the grass that was not being cut anyway Or was it that it was not mulching. These old 2 stroke Victas amaze me as they are so easy to get going. After giving it a bath and seeing the condition of the rest of the mower I reckon these are the original blades.

TC,

I would actually be surprised if they were, looking at the wheels, they seem to have covered some ground?

Whatever the reason, their loss is your gain, nice score!

At least with a 2-stroke you can tip it on its side to change/inspect the blades.

If you turn all the blades outward it will still work, but as a 16 inch mower instead of 18. Think Vortex mini.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!
