The Victa Mustangs cost nearly 500 in the late 80s so in real terms the $1100 Honda isn't as expensive as that today. People just can't hack that 1K barrier.
Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!
I remember back in the day you could buy a top of the line Victa with a Honda engine! Sad to see so much china power now, I suppose it was going to happen eventually, Just look at Rover! Looks like Masport still have an ok range of engines, Honda lost me when they went to plastic decks, I don't doubt the quality I just could not trust that.
A frIend was GIVEN a near new 2000s Mustang with the overhead cam engine and he left it sitting outdoors for over a year before he got it going only because his rusty V40 Chonda Lawnkeeper by Victa he was using to do people's lawns as well as his own, failed. It he treats his equipment roughly in general including his car. Shows how little you value something when you haven't had to pay for it and that included ask the cars he had that were bought by his parents.
