I found this mower a couple of years ago and gave it a thorough wash about a year ago and I've noticed oil has leaked on the base (arrow) from the manifold area.
I tested it with aerostart not long after getting it and it fired and sounded like it ran well.
They're a good looking motor but seem to be problematic.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Mowerfreak, That engine was made by Tecumseh before the company went out of business 2009. The current Tecumseh company is not the same company nor do they support these older engines. But there several after market parts available for that engine.

They were fairly good engines when you could get the parts but they are quickly dying off here in the US.

Hi AVB,
I have another mower with a Tecumseh similar to this one -the bloke I bought it off told me he'd recently replaced the carburettor bit the motor kept cutting out after it warned up
I also have a third dead one sitting loose I recently took off another mower, and replaced with a Briggs, before selling the mower, so I have parts. I notice the loose motor has a different shaped inlet manifold to the one pictured. Do you know where the leaking oil is likely from??

Thanks for the info BTW.
