Hard to come by depends on where you look or if you're looking for a 125cc engine on a high arch. I find that the 73-74 G3 125cc utilities are readily available very cheap and I have 4.
(Haha haha) it's amusing how you're having no trouble finding mark 3s and I have mark IVs almost falling into my lap (in a couple of instances anyway). I find the overlooked combo of LM/G4 carburetor with the 125cc very interesting and collectable indeed.
Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!
I'd just love to hear that 125cc engine with a G4 or LM carby!!! I know the G3 carby versions are my favourite sound to date but im yet to hear a G4 version but could only imagine it sounded even better than the G3 version.
So I found one. Here is my V167 74-75 125cc G4 carby Utility. She looks rough. But she actually runs. She's dirty and greasy but I wouldn't have it any other way!
So I now have a non store brand Victa 125cc mower with the G4 carby and it comes with the original manual and everything.
Sorry MF, wasn't going to be too long before I came across one I wanted for my collection! I'm sure that this mower is pretty rare! Collectable? For me, YES It's a great piece of history. Too others not so much and the monetary value, well, it was given away to me and I wouldn't ever see it selling for more than $100 even in full store room restored condition, for the simple fact its just a 70's utility that's a crossover and doesn't have much visual appeal to most. But I love it for its crossover look and for what it represents......
Here it is my Victa V167 74-75 125cc G4 carby Utility!
You're turning me into Patrick Bateman in the business card scene. "Look at that protective layer of heavy grime. Just imagine the pristine metal under that!" "Those decals for the 125cc and the BP Zoom recommendation placard!" "*gasp*'even has the manual with it" **Sweating profusely**
It's got provenance!
So, how do you find it's sound?
Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!
It sounded like it needs a really good going through before I try give it any guts.... it starts but doesn't run well yet. Yes under the grime it is actually pristine! Very right there.
Yes MF, I wasn't going to just get any 125cc with a G4 carby. It had to be a Victa only brand and be in the guide. I needed a proven %100 Victa original. That's just how my collection goes now.
The cherry red 73 mustang sounds amazing at full tilt!!!
Well I have one VIcta branded one so no Patrick Bateman antics on that point, plus it's a high arch.
There was a gold low arch rear catcher one I found and sold years ago but can't recall if it was store brand or not. I have an inkling it was Victa branded although the exact same mower was store branded a lot. It was just like my KMart machine.
I think the G4 125 must be reasonably common as I have had much more luck coming across them than older versions. I have found five vs one G3 125 which was another gold low arch rear catcher model with the metal cover with square zip starter on top.

Could just be a state thing with availability! Because I come across heaps of Mark 3 125cc with G3 and you come across heaps of victa Mark 4 125cc with G4 carbys. Could simply be an area thing....
