Cheers Speedy,

I looked at the flywheel and it it didn't seem right. I have an old 66 autodrive that has a similar "short finned" flywheel and that made me look twice. You think it is a 125..?

Hi Alan,
first, good to see our UK eyes on ground again, secondly unfortunate that looks to be a waste of time.
Scant on details in the ad and won't get back to you promptly. Maybe knew you wouldn't buy if he answered your queries truthfully.

Maybe worth waiting a couple more days for a response if he's close to you and you want to take a look in person.

That's off a very old model, probably takes the old barrel type piston carburettor.

Hope you get what you're after.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

60's or early 70's late model 125. fitted to most 60's low arch models, utilities and the vc125. earlier ones had a different flywheel and rotomo's had transfer port covers

G'day Alan ,speedy ,Mf and nath

Yes definitely 125cc as mentioned above ,I remember seeing this type of flywheel on my mid sixties Victa
mowers.

1B in the parts book.

Cheers
Max.

Guy's, thanks for your opinions.

Would I be crazy to gamble this.?

It could be a straight fueled knackered engine, or it might not be.? for the price of £29 I don't think he is going to do to the detailed pics. I'm keen to conserve/re-build this engine.

You need to inspect it. Look down the exhaust port it's mandatory to check for scores.

Thanks, I have asked if he could take a picture of the piston through the exhaust port. I don't think he will bother though for the money he is asking. Shame he wasn't a bit closer, I would have popped over for a look myself.

You could always gamble if that engine is specifically related to what you need and had proven very hard to pin down over a long period searching.

G'day Alan and Mf

I don't think the motor is worth buying at that price unless you had a mower needing parts and the parts rarely
come up for sale ,as you say Alan the top mount for the cowl is broken and that is part of the top crank case
so you would have to weld or replace the crank case at extra cost.

Doesn't look like Victa is much in demand in England ,you would buy a complete Victa cheaper or pay a
little more than what the motor is selling for to get a complete mower.

The Victa motor has had 37 Views probably 20 from here so not a lot of interest.

Gumtree UK may be worth using and Setting alerts for your searches for victa and never miss a new ad in your area.

Cheers
Max.
