Inherited a McCulloch 3216 32cc with no manual and I have a few questions please:

1) I was able to get the chain back on after it slipped off, but don't know how much tension to put on it. What is the recommended tension?

2) Is there a recommended oil? Is there a recommended grade of gas? What is the ratio of oil to gas?

Thanks.

Hello Robert:
The way to check chain tension is to put everything back together and then lift the guide bar and pull up on the chain at mid point between the saw and the tip. You should not be able to pull a drive link clear of the bar, better that you can only get it about half way up the body of the drive link. Tighten the bar nuts with the bar held up. Check it after you have tightened it. Can you pull the chain around freely??? If not then loosen the nuts and back up the tension screw a little. the chain must rotate on the bar freely or something is going to suffer.
Use premium grade gasoline from the pump. Mix it fresh with McCulloch Chain Saw Motor Oil. If you cannot get Mac oil use any other make of chain saw mixing oil. Mix it 40:1 ratio. It must be chain saw mixing oil, not outboard motor or snowmobile.
