Hello ODK history lovers
Because of their relatively simple design, motor lawn edgers
(electric or petrol) were made by many small engineering
firms across Australia. With no or little dealer networks,
most were sold locally and have been forgotten to history.

In 2017 member Bellarinelawns posted a couple of images
of a Hall Lawn Edger. The design was unusual – it had a quality
look about it; but I had no idea who made it beyond the obvious.

A lucky find of a pocket-size brochure in 2021 has
brought some closure to who made it.

Bellarinelawns two images are shown below.
Note that his machine has seven rubber tyres!
My brochure machine has alloy rollers; suggesting
it as being an earlier machine.

My best guess is that the roller machine dates from the
very early 1970s, the latter design to the mid-1970s.

TO BE CONTINUED …

PART TWO – Brochure
So, we now know who made this edger – Hall Industries
of Toowoomba, Queensland.

Note the handle air-cleaner and the reference to the
buying group MSAA.

MSAA appears to have been founded in about 1970.
It also means that the Hall edger had wide selling potential
through about 300 dealers across many States.

This does not rule out the Hall was introduced in the late 1960s.

This pocket-size tri-fold brochure is from my collection and
it is in good condition. As always, I make it available to members
for viewing or as a quality download.
