Picked this one up for $10 at the local tip shop last week. Looks to be the original Briggs on it, from 1984!

Hi Gadge,

As far as I know Villager never had Briggs engines fitted, it would have had a Kirby 4 stroke or a Tecumseh engine. Bolt pattern are the same for Briggs so it’s a good transplant.

All the best
Paul

Looks like a pretty good score for $10 Gadge even if the motor is no good body and wheels look in great condition

Hi Norm,

Well, the air filter was clean [tho' the foam was rotted], and the oil level was OK. So with any luck, the motor will be OK/fixable - Magnetron ignition, too.

However, the oil that crept slowly out of this one, was the sludgiest crud I've ever seen come out of any engine!
I do have a possible backup motor, in the shape of a Honda GXV120, too.

I'll give it a new spark plug, new oil and air filter, and see if it will fire up, soonish.

If it runs, I'll change the blade disc [it's very heavily rusted] to one off a parted-out SupaSwift Big Bob that I have here, and cut the blades down to the 18" cut Little Bob length.

The blade disc that's on it does look original, but has very heavy rust. Pic to follow.
