To prepare your saw for storage it is a good idea to do the following;
If there is fuel in the saw, start it up and let it warm up a little. Shut if off.
Then drain all the fuel out of the fuel tank.
Start the saw again and let it run until all the fuel in the system is used up and the saw dies. I usually use the choke to get the very last fuel out of the system. Drain the oil out of the oil tank. remove the bar and chain. Clean the sawdust out of the bar groove using a bar groove scraper or any tool that will scrape the sawdust out. If you have a grease gut for the bar tip pump a bit of grease into the bearings. Place the chain in a pan of oil and let is soak for a day or two, then remove it and put it into a plastic bag fully oiled. Clean the sawdust from around the sprocket area, put the saw into it's case or store it in a cool dry location.
