Hi, love the forum!

I recently purchased a Model 40 and started a restoration on it (obviously not a period correct resto more a freshen up).
All parts are with the mower and I’ve become aware of the lack of spare parts

Couple of questions,
1. The Villiers carby has a broken banjo fitting (Plastic) where the fuel line connects too, I found another carby but it’s pricey so I am wondering if I could retro fit a Briggs motor easily like what is done with the 45s? Unless I can somehow find a new banjo fitting?

2. Are the cutting reels different from the 40s to the 45s?

Thanks a lot for any help

Hi mazrick ,Norm and Paul

The cheapest that I have seen the banjo connectors new is if you buy 2, works out about $5. each.
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/10mm-32...ose-Line-PIT-PRO-Dirt-Bike/254680188885?

Last time I got one from a car wreckers ,they gave me the connector for free but cost $1 entry fee ,a motorcycle
wreckers would be another option ,ask for a broken brake hose or brake pipe or clutch line.

Cheers
Max.

Hi speedy,
I have asked my son several times to put a piece in a jar of petrol to see if it will stand up to it. For some reason he seems reluctant to try. I think he is afraid that I will ask him to make up a batch of Victa carby cams, which I would of course

I've got to ask, what colour is the green used and also what brand is it ?

Cheers,
BB.

It was just from a spray can. Dulux Duramax Green

Is there anywhere to buy new cutting reel for the model 40s? Or can model 33 or 45 be retro fitted?

Hi everyone,
mazrick, who needs hammertone? At least this doesn't BLINKIN KEEP CLOGGING!!!
I actually have this in gold which I was considering painting my mower in before discovering the hammertone in the same gold.
That regular green looks great.

B_B still grateful you steered me onto it.

Not sure PC, don't think it would be in the lovely rich gold l like the clog prone UltraColor.

Yes that UltraColor Gold is just divine in it's depth of colour isn't it ?

It's devine B_B.
I appreciate you "counseling" me on my initial misgivings because of it turning out quite a bit different upon direct comparison to original Mayfair gold, just as the green isn't an exact match to the Scott Bonnar 45 original, but looks spectacular.
It'll blow people away.

Hi MF,

Actually it's rather hard to know what the initial colour ever was as over the years colours will change due to age, heat and exposure to UV which has dramatically increased over the past 20 years. Even though some parts of an item may have been covered from sunlight doesn't mean it will be as per the day it was originally applied. All colours will change with time and honestly if you don't have an original never brought out of the carton since day one to compare to, you'd never know.

Cheers,
BB.

mmmmm................... counseling ? now there's a new career path to explore, I've never thought of myself being a Counselor.
