[Linked Image from img525.imageshack.us] I`m thinking of buying a hedge trimmer. There`s not a large amount mainly Plumbago, Alamanda and geisha girl. Any suggestions on what to look out for. I`ve seen one for $50.00 battery charged but it seems a bit too small. aussie

terrace,

Forget a battery operated one even an electric would be working hard on that, petrol is the way to go. Unless you cut it back with a chainsaw and then tidy up with a battery hedge trimmer. cheers2

Thank You Bruce. Is there a smaller petrol hedge trimmer not too expensive? Do you think a corded plugin to power point would be not enough? What wattage? aussie cheers2

aussieI enquired about a Pope Spitfire Hedge Trimmer and was advised by a dealer that spare parts are not available and customer service at Pope advised they don`t have a parts list and don`t know if parts are available. I find it amazing that they can sell these machines without providing parts availability. Well this might help someone else who may be looking ay buying this machine. I`ll continue on. cheers2

Terrance,

If you want a decent petrol hedge trimmer "Makita/ Tanaka /Echo" etc, your going to have to spend at least $500 for a new one.
My experience with cheap Chinese petrol tools is their underpowered, poorly built & lack of parts.
You could try ringing a few dealers for a good brand used hedge trimmer.
The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of cheap price is forgotten ...

cheers gmax
