Hi Guys,

Newbie here, Just acquired a 28166 13hp B&S. got it running but has a surge when driving forward. I am guessing that it's a flat spot on the belt but due it's age of sitting for 6 years i am guessing all the belts have perished. I am trying to find a video/ detailed instructions on how to change the belt. When i look at the parts list it shows 2 different belts not including the deck belt.. is this correct? I am wanting to change all the belts but unsure of which of the 3 below are correct.

From the parts list says it needs the following:
A12930
A12316
or
A12696

Ultimately depends on the surge. Unless there is an actual missing chunk of the drive belt it is actually unlikely to be that. Now I am going to assume it is an auto drive model, These have a friction clutch drive system, first place I would start. Also they have a chain drive, that could be worn out or loose also.

Yes these have 3 drive belts. there is a belt from the engine to the clutch assembly, then there is a belt on the clutch assembly itself. Just have a look at them, Could just be loose also.

Thanks for the info, Found the issue. Drive chain was loose.. Tighten and fixed the jumping. Belts seem to be fine. What is the correct adjustment for the mower belt? I assume this is a measurement when the mower is disengaged?
