Hi speedy,
I love that statement, "its ok just needs a new engine", if that is the case then I must have a lot of ok mowers here

With the return of the blue monster, and this, you're going to be busy.

I don't collect mowers. I just require Multiple Mowing Solutionsâ„¢.

Hi speedy

The height adjuster spring being up near the flywheel couldn't have helped. Saw a ryobi like that once - it had ripped the governor wide open whilst the guy went to empty the catcher and blew the engine whilst he ran back

I totally missed that spring in the first photograph. I was too busy looking at the second and wondering how much flex there would be in that base!

I put the spring back where it should go.
Took the starter off , wire brushed the flywheel which was rusty, and coil ends. Set the gap.
Used the Bosch electric drill starter....... wouldn't start.... started to take carb off to clean it, tried to drain fuel but tank was empty..................
Silly me. put it back together and it stared with drill. mowed part of backyard. It just started to smoke and stalled. Of cource it hasn't got a throttle....
Gave it a prime and it started , mowed more, stalled again later, started it and finished mowing.....
Need to degrease as oil was running out of carb........
Maybe there is too much oil in it, so I'll use it till it settles down..... burns off or dribbles out.
cheers

Hi Speedy

I have also found it helps to fill the tank haha

Never seen one of these chondas with a plate like with the circled part. Is it access to pushrods, or another location for the PCV?

Yes Tyler, maybe vavle adjustment, like the B&S.
I was thinking , maybe the oil is caused by crankcase pressure........ it has a breather , i think it comes out at carby.

Don't know, never noticed or looked but won't be valve adjustment because these are OHV with valve adjustment through the rocker cover
