Hello Viewers,

Yes, you read that correctly. I now have eight Mowing Solutionsâ„¢ for about 200sqm of lawn in suburbia, including the neighbour's verge!

This is one of the cheapest I've bought so far, but certainly not the roughest. The previous owner says it was hard to start. Seems to be a common complaint for this one.

The sun had well and truly set for another day before I got it home, so I haven't really had a look at it yet, or tried to start it. Usual bumps, scrapes and missing hubcaps as you'd expect on a bit of a bush mower.

Can you guess what? If you've been following along at home, you might have an idea.I suspect a fellow Perth member certainly does.

P.S. Mods, I tried to post this in the Show and Tell sub forum, but it would not allow picture uploads.

Well, it's a Rover! Obviously.

I don't collect mowers. I just require Multiple Mowing Solutionsâ„¢.

Hello Mystyler
You do make us laugh...

"Mowing Solutions" is a great 'trade-marked' name for the collector.
The whole street may get to know you! grin

Cheers & thanks

I aim to please, Jack! I do crazy things so others don't have to.

I'll have to start thinning the herd. The first to go might just be the Chinese made Victa Powertorque. Victas need to have white wall wheels! It's only had one season of use, and I'll probably get some decent coin for it. Plus it doesn't feel like the ones I used as a lad. Bit of a shame, really.

Was thinking of rebuilding the SB33 into a groomer but it's a lot of money for something that might get used twice a season, maximum.

(Nock &) Kirby?

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

A Suzuki!

Here it is, in all its glory. Very oily glory. Wow, what a mess. I think we have a carb problem, surprise, surprise.

Hard to start indeed. Twelve pulls and I gave up. Filter off, Start Ya Bastard into the carb, single pull and we're away. I think we have a carb problem...

It hunts at what I can only assume is WOT. It has an aftermarket throttle lever, similar to this one.

The choke appears to move on its own accord. Got some compressed air around the carb and cleaned it up a bit. Bolted it back together and it runs a tiny bit better. It does not like running at anything less than full noise at all. But geeze, this thing is a beauty. Sounds like no other two stroke. Quiet, but with an exotic voice. Very high tech and smooth. We might have a new favourite soon.

Looking at the amount of crap around the base of the carb and air filter, I reckon it is running super rich. From what I have read about these carbs, there has to be a blockage somewhere playing havoc. Plug seemed clean enough, if a bit black.

It looks like the front has taken a bashing into trees or rocks, or both. It may just need new front axle bushes or something may be bent. I'll get to that later. But what a ripper little motor on a pretty decent alloy base.

As I have said all along, excellent motor but let down by a problematic carby all the time

Indeed Norm. The carby is a work of art, but I wonder if it wasn't just a bit fancy for dusty environments. The air intake is kinda cool too. It's almost "turbocharged" from the flywheel.

Mikuni carbys are an excellent carby but not in this sort of environment and with irregular use they get
