Hi guys,

I'm chasing a Victa 19" base with wheels, steel or alloy but no major rust. I have a spare long shaft 2-stroke that needs a home.

Will pickup Brisbane/Ipswich area.

Cheers,

Dan

Hi Dan,
Also keep a look out for a Talon base, the PT fits on those well with few mods. Unrusted Victa 19 inch base will be hard to come by.

Hi Dan265(hemi),
I would look for a complete mower with a popped motor our even one working as they often charge the same or more for a cleaned up chassis on its own.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Thanks guys, yep keeping options open, less out there than i thought there'd be. Only ones i've seen in good nic have a Honda which would sell better than a 2-stroke anyway

Dan,
The 19 inch bases were made of tinfoil, if push comes to shove you can fit the motor on an 18 inch base and use spacers to lift it up 20mm The best option I have found is to look for one of the big Talons and that way you end up with a 20 inch cut

I think you're right Norm, I just found the thread with some info/pics on the conversion, looks great I'm on the lookout for one now

Dan,
The Talon bases care not a lot better but the motors usually give up on them sooner than the Briggs, but then people dump them under a tree for a few years before they put them on the kerb or take them to the tip, so that doesn't help much

Norm, will the gardeners choice mowers be any good? They seem to be the same base stamping.
I've seen a couple dumped in good nick.

MF,
Not sure, from memory the bases are different, all the Gardeners Choice ones I have had the motors were all good, usually just replace the carby and I off load them. Never had a base here that ended up with no motor so never had the need to try the PT motor, but it is a possible option.
I'm almost tempted to go after this pair but I don't want to get pinged driving out of my area at the moment
