Not sure if I have described it correctly but just had the blade carrier on my Honda HUT216 fall off - on inspecting I found that the issue was the the raised tongue/ridge of metal on the engine's shaft, had somehow broken off, meaning that the blade boss wasn't held in place and it and the blade carrier would just spin.
Much thanks for the reply - ah a woodruff key - ok I googled and tried to find the correct term for it but couldn't find anything at all - hence my very rough way of describing it.
Any particular tricks or tips with either removing whats left of the old one or affixing the new one in place?
Hi Nick, It should just tap out and a new one just pop in, just have the new one sitting slightly lower to the front so that it leads into the slot in the boss a bit easier, tap the boss on and good to go
Yes, came out just like you said. Finding the exact size one to use seems tricky - oddly for the GXv160 engine being very common there's very few correct sized ones listed online. The shaft takes two of them - and they're around Width: 4mm, Height: ~7mm, Length: ~15mm
I've a funny feeling if I go to the Honda dealer they'll want around $15 each for them......dunno if they're the type of thing sold in other industrial fittings stores? Seem like they're used in anything with a driveshaft.
Tempted to try and make a couple using some exact right thickness steel I found in my shed....shape them using the bench grinder. Can't be that hard to do.
