I was thinking that also ?
I live a 24 Hour lifestyle, but every now and again I seem to fall asleep, well at least that's what my wife tells me.

Good pick up there Tyler, I didn't look that close. Yes I have picked up a couple of non runners like that. New needle, "O" ring and cap on the right way and they fired straight up. Can't remember, might have had to replace the pull cord because they usually pull till it breaks

I have had a couple like that as well Norm.
Its a shame people just throw them away without basic trouble shooting - they are amongst the best mowers (albeit noisy) you can get.
Pulling down that briggs quantum makes me really appreciate the simplicity of the PT - 3 bolts and the cowl is off to put a new cord in. Quantum is 2 plastic covers, 5-10 screws and cowl bolts, remove dipstick housing, etc

I spotted it pretty quickly but is that the only problem with it? Why was it unscrewed in the first place?
Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Exactly MF - you never know. My bet is it was dripping fuel, and Mr average checks google, buys a o ring unscrews jet, puts on O ring (maybe drops needle) and puts it back wrong.
The same type of person who replaces briggs governor springs with tie wire, cross threads spark plugs, etc
Can't complain - I got a Masport Lawn Marshall with the last of the flat head 450s off the curb last year - diaphragm and gasket put on upside down, primer fix attempted with duct tape
Good little runner now - although the idle on them is high enough to cut grass with
