Hi folks, I decided to have a quick look at Ebay and have noticed this item attracting bids. Perhaps lockdown is attracting buyers who have time on their hands to tinker with or restore. I think the fact it's a full crank alloy hi arch complete with catcher makes it wanted. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Victa-Corvette-2-stroke-160cc-lawn-mower/254554126351?hash=item3b449bb80f:g:mTIAAOSwh3xef96c
Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!
That is a good fair price for it MF because it is a runner, to me a non running Victa is only worth about $10 because you can never tell if it has been straight fueled
I got an ebay email with the 'recommended for you' yesterday - it was in there. Its quite smart, it suggested the corvette, this nice cheap ute and another similarly nice mayfair ute
"Lincoln petrol lawn mowers are the top choice for all bulk grass-cutting applications for everyone who wants a little more power and user comfort when mowing.
With a controlled delivery oil pump, Lincoln lawn mowers are easy-to-manage, high-torque products that provide reliability and power where you need it most.
The Lincoln L17D introduces a high powered 98cc engine with the best of everything we have to offer - just pull for power and go! Powerful, durable, easy to maneuver and easy to maintain!"
98cc 1.3kw - It will have a coronary at the sight of lawn. If this is the best of everything they have to offer, I would hate to see the standard one
It also says cast iron liner - I highly doubt it
Also look at the last image - "beware of cheap inferior copies" - almost warning you not to buy it
Slightly skewing off topic here but still relevant I feel.
As far as certificates of Authenticity are concerned I just dealt with a seller on eBay that was selling a large book titled "Barrie Robran Legend"
BTW Barrie is the North Adelaide Football Clubs highest level Legend.
He stated that it came signed by Barrie "Personally" and had a Certificate of Authenticity with it......well I couldn't resist writing to this Clown !
I asked him where the signature came from and where was it done, also I asked whether he wrote his own COA for this.
He responded that it came from a dealer with the COA.
I then responded by saying that Barrie has never signed a copy of this book,
He then responded and stated that Barrie signed it in front of himself. (seller)
That's when I cut loose and called him the biggest bullshitter on eBay as I know exactly the situation regarding the origins of the book, it's author whom I know personally and spoke to last night and the subject person (Barrie) who I also know personally went to war against the author as he never wanted the book to be written nor published. The NAFC won't sell the book out of respect to Barrie and his wishes.
Now the funniest part of all this is that on the first page of the book Barrie's signature appears and that's where the seller claims it's been signed and comes with the COA, now it gets even sillier...............every book has the same signature on the first page........................it's a printed signature so every book displays it.
God there's some dumbasses out their that will do anything to gain your money. Basically Humans are Liars.
Cheers, BB.
PS. I can supply anyone with a copy of this book brand new for $35 signed by the author, while these DH's on eBay want up to $150 for a secondhand copy.
I live a 24 Hour lifestyle, but every now and again I seem to fall asleep, well at least that's what my wife tells me.
That guy in Dandenong Norm ,I'm not sure what he sells ,I see garden equipment worth about $10 that he lists for around $100 and it's still for sale at the same price 2 years later.
He has a Line Trimmer for sale but for only $20 more you could get a new one.
Yes that happens a lot BB ,sellers telling porky pies ,buyer beware.
Hi Tyler, When you put in a link to an ebay item just go as far as the question mark as above and that way when you click on it it goes straight to the item
Thanks Norm, I have been wondering how that is done
Its been hit and miss - some website do the auto link on here, others dont
Thanks
Max, are the aldi special buys 2 strokes back shortly? Or is it an old catalogue? Have to admit I bought the leaf blower vac they had out last time - almost a straight copy of echo, unfortunately weighs a tonne
Tyler , it's an old catalogue but if you remember when the last mowers sold at Aldi it's usually in about 12 months time that they repeat mower sales as you probably know.
If it's old enough some people love rusty artifacts ,they want to preserve the rust for their garden art ,not me though.
BB, very good value if you compare it to the new Chinese junkers being sold everywhere for more than double that price. I know what will be still running in 20 years if looked after and fueled correctly, that is the only thing that will kill them
Yes I feel that the days of 2 Strokes are rapidly coming to an end for the average Wood Duck as they just want a mower to pour unleaded fuel in and pull the cord, then toss it back in the shed til next time when it won't start, then curse the crap out of it.
Cheers, BB.

I have probably 25 PT motors sitting on the shelf at the moment and when they are gone it is probably over for me. The supply of them has completely dried up over the last 12 months
