Hi all members

Hope everyone is fit and well

Took delivery of a Cortina today, yep she has done some miles but appears to be in good original condition with some battle scars which is just how I like them. When I asked the seller if he knew much of the mowers history he responded by saying he was the original owner so had a fair idea of the history. The mower came with an array of owner manuals, booklets and pamphlets which make good reading. If anyone is interested in the pamphlets etc I could photograph or scan both sides and send. The original fuel tap, impulse starter knob and fuel can were also located in the shed as well.

Cheers

Nice survivor wce.
I have never been sure of the purpose of having that shute thing on the side and why later models deleted them.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

MF, that was for the windrower - probably an attractive feature before the inclusion of the catcher, not so after

Good to see it did the trip safely wce, shame it lost the hubcap

Hey Tyler,

Why does it have a 'High Arch' manual? Or is that some advertising?

Nice collection. Let us know how she goes on the job.

G'day ,all

Yes these early Victa mowers had duel grass discharge meaning you could use the mower as a side throw or a rear discharge
mower with the catcher ,the later mowers were rear discharge only.

If the cover plate is on the left side it is removed when you cut your edges of fences ,walls ,etc.

The windrower pushes the long grass over so the grass does not block the discharge shoot when the grass is discharged
from the mower base.

This 1967 Cortina has been looked after WCE. good1

Hi all

The wheel cap was in a bag with spare blades, nut/bolt kits, spare air filter etc Tyler, so was happy to see it. The chap said he tried starting it about 12 months ago with no luck. I think the problem may have been that after the fuel hose and tap was replaced the hose was a fraction too long and the angle of it meant the fuel was being asked to travel upwards first before the downward bend and if you only put a small amount of fuel into test start I doubt if the carby would have primed. I re positioned the hose slightly and checked the flow rate which was adequate for the very small amount of fuel i put in, primed it and she started second wind up of the starter, runs great and the torpedo mufflers sure have a nice note.

Cheers
