I remember in the 80s you found these dumped everywhere or under houses. Everyone saw newer versions with plastic add-ons as more valued. Attitudes have changed now and more plastic is seen as less valuable among collectors.
Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

For a non runner it is probably a bit high, but somebody will probably pick it up for $80 or so.

I'm thinking that in the current climate this sort of collectible stuff will take a hit as everybody reduces spending on hobbies. Running mowers seem to keep selling, mostly driven by the recent rains and warm weather. I had people lining up yesterday after a Rover and one bloke got very abusive because I didn't hold it so he could pick it up today. My position is, man who walks through the gate with money in his hand gets first pick

He probably wouldn't have looked after it. Usually jerks abuse machinery too.

MF I thought it was pretty straight forward, he said he wanted to pick it up the next day and I said fine. Later I sent him a message saying that I was going to delete the ad because of all the messages coming in. Then I got a message from him saying f...you. Needless to say I pointed out to him that I was now going to sell it to then next on the list which is what I did

From what I seen, most people treat their outdoor equipment like garbage. And you have to wade through a million morons, and another million that don't bother showing up, using Gumtree, with the odd good person.
Whenever I have bought something from gumtree, I make it simple; I offer a price without it being insulting. If no, I say 'no worries, best of luck' and move on. If yes, when can I come and pick it up? I then go and pick it up at the appointed time.
Morons; "Will you take ridiculously dumb price for xyz?" No. "You'll never get that price, that is only an xyz (usually some dumb uninformed opinion)". No. "Why are you being a (insert swearword)?". No. "Your a (insert female anatomical name)" No.
Moron2: "Would you post to (insert town)?". Yes. "How much to post?". Weigh, check postal options online, inform them. "Can't you post it cheaper?" No. Silence.
Moron3: "I will pay the going price (rare)" Ok cool. "I will be at your place on Saturday about 10". Saturday at 10,11,12 etc nothing. Mssg person. Nothing.
And so on it goes.
I just don't care anymore. Everything is now done when it suits me, at my price. It gets rid of the morons quickly and keeps my blood pressure from overloading. So long as you don't overprice, and have a good item, it will eventually get sold eventually.

I once got offered $25 for a fully working sprinter - sent back a google link with directions to the local tip shop - told him if he wants a mower for that price he will have to go down there
Sprinter is still in the shed
