Gday fellas,
I have been tearing down a victa imperial to give it some love and a new lick of paint.
All I need to do now is take the clutch apart. I have the clutch in two pieces with the pads exposed but am unsure how to remove them. I am leaning towards they are blind riveted on.
Which is fine as I run a blacksmith shop and can easily put new ones in, I just want to make sure before I remove them and do damage.

Hello POI
My best guess is that these are solid rivets (not blind).
The peening marks are clearly visible.

[I note that the Imperial also used solid rivets for the bottom blade].

Please keep us informed as your works may well help others.
I'm guessing you intend to replace the clutch linings?

Cheers

Yes that is kinda what I was getting at.
The bottom blade has both top and bottom rivet exposed. Where in this case I am almost certain there is only a head on these rivets which I think they are pressed in and its more of a friction fit.

I only want to take it apart to sand blast and give a coat of paint.

G'day POI
Yes, I think that too.

Mild steel rod pressed in as an interference fit,
then peened over.

I guess length will be critical for peening.

Any info and images of the process will be most welcome.

Many thanks

Nope we were both wrong.
Turns out they were a kind of bolt. I dont know why they had a proper head on them to undo them easier
