MF,
My rattle gun would not move a lot of Victa blade carriers, so I had to buy a double impact 1150nm one now that is a real rattle gun

Working on a Mack truck as well NormK? laugh
My battery one from Aldi has succeeded every time so far. Blinking loud though!

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

MF,
My double impact gun has been known to split a few sockets

Even impact ones or are you talking about regular ones?
I occasionally use a regular multi hex for the 1" nut used with the full cranks. I only have impact sockets in metric sizes.
I imagine it would open up like a flower with yours.

MF,
My impact sockets are mostly elcheapo and I have split some of those and also some of my good regular sockets, it is a powerful gun

I would be sticking with quality impact sockets with that gun.
With mine, you can see the iron oxide dust pouring down as it works the nut loose.

Thanks NormK
I've since hit another snag with this mower. There is no drive gears in either wheels.

And my experience with the gears are you are probably better off without them unless you want to restore this to original. If you just want to mow the lawn I would just use it as a push mower.I have one (slasher type) that drives no problem but it is near impossible to pull backwards

I was hoping to get the self propelled working but finding the parts are difficult. If not I might find another frame to put the motor on.

I guess the next question is do you have a catcher that fits?

G'day spence16,
there is a picture of the metal plate fitted in the link Speedy provided.

Hi Speedy,
Would you still have the cogs and springs off your self propelled?

I cut them off, see the post. Nothing left. Mine was missing wheel cogs as well. Probably the gearbox was faulty.. Maybe yours is the same... That's why people take the cogs out...

I pulled the gear box out today and it seems fine. The pulley spins and so does the axle.

Hi spence16,

If the gearbox is ok then I'm guessing the PO pulled the gears out for the same reason I'm having problems with the one I have, easy to push forward no problems, but just about impossible to pull it backwards, with or without the motor running.
