G'day everyone,
Yes NormK I went to a council around here and they told me they no longer have a tip shop, anyway there is a spot on the side of the road where you can look through a fence at their council hard rubbish piles. I didn't see any mowers at all in the junk..lol Just alot of whitegoods, some bikes and building materials.
So I thought i'll start searching some scrap metal yards because years ago I used to walk past them and i'd sometimes see the odd lawnmower dumped in there.
When I picked up this Victa last week, there was a few 4 strokes there but they were really trashed and buggered. Handles were gone, wheels were gone and even the engines looked trashed and rusted out big time.
I had a look on the mountain of junk in this yard and I did see quite a few lawnmower bases chucked in there. There was a couple of what looked to be those cheap sort of Aldi mowers in the pile. There was one green Victa base I think it was a powertorque base but it had rusted out big time. Wheels were garbage and even the adjusting holes in the deck were worn out and one had a split in it. But don't worry I still tried to drag it out of the pile as I thought maybe the metal rear lid can still be used..lol
But the closer I got to it I just saw more rust even on the lid. The hinges looked to have been drilled out, rusted and screws were fitted there. In the end I just gave up and grabbed the one I found.
So you can tell I am trying to salvage as much good old Victa stuff as I can now!
Cheers!
