You know what... you're absolutely right. I don't want to use it, I want to collect it and have it good forever, and I'd love to have one new in the box and never open it, but I'm not a museum haha and as you said, space, money, and mentality come into play. Nobody is going to come to my house to look at the immaculate mower LOL. That said, if I didn't have to worry about money or real estate, I'd totally get a spare or 2 in a box. But if I had all of that money and real estate, would I just hire someone to do my lawns?... No... No I wouldn't.. haha.
That said, I wanted to get it before you can't anymore, so I can have one and keep it good and use it as I want over the years. I'm actually looking at heading interstate on the weekend to pick up an MSV562 that looks like it's in damn near perfect condition, so I'll have a nice little convoy going haha. At that point, I'll be able to sell my old MSV562 though after I fix it up, let someone else have a go lol.
They won't re-release the 2-stroke in my opinion. Briggs & Stratton figured.. why spend a fortune to get it compliant when we can sell our 4 strokes? That way, people will fail to do their oil changes/top-ups, run their engines dry, then buy a new mower and make us more money...haha.
I feel that in time, the PowerTorque engines will become more sought after, but for people like us, who appreciate them. Or until everyone else realises how much easier and less maintenance they are lol.
Converse, I'm jealous. You got to hang out at a scrap yard and found a 2-stroke. I hear all the time about people getting them in council collections. The only thing I've ever found was a steel chassis 4 stroke, which is still in my garage because... well it doesn't really interest me lol. Not yet anyway.
Pretty much the only reason I was hoping for a painted muffler is that I don't like the look of a rusty muffler at the front lol. I might just paint it
