I never understand why people do spark plugs up so tight. By no means should they be left loose, but finger tight, then a bit more (something like 1/3 of a turn - i just do it by feel).
NGK are a bit different, their plug washers are quite thick (on bp6es plugs anyway) and are sometimes disconcerting - especially when installing in a 35 year old car with an alloy head
