Ok so I am back to my mates Greenfield that has somehow chewed up the drive belt again. I have to explain to him how to release the tension on the spring tension ratchet rod so he can fit a new idler pulley and belt. I remember last time I did I dismantled half the bodywork to get to the rod to release it but from what I remember it was simpler than that but I have forgotten how it was done. Once the spring is removed somehow you can move the rod backwards over the ratchet but I can't remember how I did it. Anybody got any tips and if it can be done without pulling the bodywork around the steering off because we can't remove the steering wheel? Trust me I tried that some years ago when I had it in the press and the only thing that was going to happen was the steering wheel was going to break.
