The base is certainly vastly superior to the Victa steel base with their insistence on sticking to the top mounting handles with a single bolt each side, hastening metal fatigue and corrosion, not to mention that awful flexing feel when you push the mower around.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!
