Woe is me... Thanks guys for your help. Aussietrev, it sounds like you should hang on to that spring as a rare part but I am grateful for your offer. I much prefer the wind vane setup anyway.
Bigted just to confirm, I can just disconnect the arm of the mechanical governor, change the plate and use a wind vane governor. The existing mechanical governor can just stay inside the crankcase as obsolete?
