Hi,

New to the forum and have an old Mac 100HD 2 stroke petrol trimmer with the following issues:

- oily black ooze covering most of the motor. Have torn it down and think that it is coming from and leaking from the exhaust port. The port also has lots of carbon black soot buildup. As to why there is the black oily ooze I am assuming that I am mixing too much oil in with the fuel?
- in taking it apart, both the exhaust gasket and carby gaskets on the other side have rotted away and fuel hoses no longer look healthy. I think this machine would be nearly 20 years old now.

I have bought a new Stihl machine but have decided to make this old Mac my project, given that it looks like some parts are still available.

Despite all of the above, the old thing has always been a keen starter and runs fairly well. However once warm and after a few minutes of work now, the motor starts to die like there is a fuel delivery problem, only to recover a few seconds later. There is no rough running or sputtering, just a drop in revs and power and then a recovery.

So given all of this, I plan to clean the intake and exhaust ports, put new gaskets, filters and a carby kit thru her and new fuel lines. The carby is a Walbro WT 211.

Can anyone assist with parts and also possible causes of the symptoms above? Also, any other suggestions for the rebuild?

Thanks,
