Now we know it is a Briggs and Stratton on the mower, if it has the original engine, then the Engine Code will provide you with an estimated Year of Manufacture for the machine.
In my photo above, the engine Code is 970813ZE. The first 6-digits give you the date the engine was built in YYMMDD order, and the ZE is the factory where it was built.
In my case, the engine on my mower was built on the 13th August 1997, which gives me an estimated year of the machine as 1997-1998.
This may help narrow down the machine and make it easier to work with.
Overall, you should now have a good idea of its basic information.
