no wire wheels nooooooo , just clean it up first you will be surprised how good it works , other members have ways of doing it too , mine is just a good degrease then alloy wheel cleaner . leaves it nice and clean orig' looking .
sandblasting is one way , paint stripper is another just messier . read the threads on colours/my new victa 18s up there in popular topics
