I'm a bit surprised that little claw hammer did the job, Rob. Looks like either 8 or 12 ounces. To me anything less than a 2 lb ball-peen is a "special light hammer", and anything below 1 lb is a "jeweller's hammer". The only reason I use a 3 lb for jobs like that is that I'm not really all that accurate with the cut-down one-handed sledge.

What I really need though, is a foot of railway line for an anvil. When I search ebay for "anvil" in Melbourne I find a bunch of jeweller's vices with little square flat bits on the tiny cast iron frame. How do you get bits of railway line, anyway?
