Skiller, yes it would but you have already said it gives you a boot but not with the plug, are you holding the side of the plug (steel part) against the head or steel bolt mounted to the motor?? the reason I ask is if you are grounding the plug and not getting spark but you are with just the hi tension lead, then you should try another plug, hope this helps.
