Somone else has fitted that snorkel tube, originally I would imagine the carby was 180 degrees around, (primer cap in) with a remote primer coming back out.
I am pretty sure the metal sleeve coming out of the cylinder is the same size, its been a while since I built someting out of what was lying around though, Generally I just fiddle with whats there....
