Ok,
I am not a fan of spray but desperate times... Anyhow I am sure it survived a couple of attempts and have drawn some fuel in since. I have tried the module mounted outside as mentioned it is no different. Upon speaking with a mower repairs friend who asked a Victa person directly this type of module system was tried prior to the side pull design that Victa eventually used and was never successful. The timing was always wrong due the position the coil was mounted in and it is known not to work on VC160 however apparently it can be retrofitted to points based side pulls just prior to electronic ignition..or so the story goes. He was adamant that Victa had tried this and that if you test it with a timing light you will see that it can not work. So I guess there is some comfort in knowing that I am not inept even if I had to find out the long way. Now we just need to amend the catalogues that say that a module and coil replacement will work on all old points based machines and hopefully find out if it works on any of them. Meanwhile I will put the points back and perhaps make my own coil plate that lets me rotate the static timing around to the right spot to fulfil that ridiculous itch to see it on electronic ignition.
