I had a look at your prior post with photo, the photo is at Max retard (assuming clockwise rotation). Just out of interest how much range (degrees) difference are you getting out of max adjustment each way on your timing light, and what method did you use to determine piston TDC?
Looks like there is plenty of room to slot the plate further if required, but from reading other posts and my exp. that shouldn't be req.
I'd check the part # with Bruce in case of mis match of parts as he suggests, but some things seems a-miss to me...
I'd re-check your methodology you might have missed something. Try locating TDC by degreeing 10mm off TDC in each direction, in case TDC dwell time is throwing you out.
