Just thinking about the clutch setup some more, with the levers and slides underneath, I THINK the belt from the clutch to the gearbox remains tight, and it's just the belt from the clutch to the engine that goes loose. Perhaps that belt is too long, which would allow the clutch pedal to return too far. It's times like this I wish I still had the one I reco'd. Hope I've been of some help.
