The heavy clutch acts as the flywheel. If you try to run the motor without the clutch the timing will be out and you are unable to adjust it.
As to the carby you can get some different jet sizes in order to get it to run with a different length of air hose.

I have also seen these orange 125 motors used on pumps and as stationy engines.Did victa make a heavy flywheel/fan when these units where not used on motor mowers .
What information do i need, carby type engine number, ID ect to order the diferent jets.
Do you think the backfire is timing related or mixture related ?
Any help is apreciated.
