That seems to be a very good manual, and the D400 carburetor certainly seems to be your carburetor. It does have a kill switch, and it works as you said. The button pushes for flooding (starting enrichment) and twists for kill. The breaker point gap should be 0.020", which is usual, and the gap between the flywheel and the coil core should be 0.010" rather than the generic 0.012" I quoted.
