My front roller has many dints in it, is rusted and unsightly for my newly restored SB45. Can anyone see a problem with me replacing the tube with a slightly larger outer diameter tube - 73.03mm OD rather than original 70.00mm OD? The new tube will have the same internal diameter 66.93mm to still fit the original end caps. This simply means that the wall thickness of the new tube will be bigger - 3.05mm rather than 1.5mm.
The only issue i can see will be that i will loose 1.5mm in height adjustment and the front roller will be heavier.
Will the slightly heavier front roller affect the cut of the grass or machine performance? I think not..
P.S it will be 304 grade stainless steel seamless tube - priced at $55.
Plus less prone to more unsightly dints with the extra wall thickness...
