Found this mower on my way home yesterday, in very good physical shape and got it going by replacing spark plug. Cable at carby end was tied in this bizarre way with electrical wire. I don't know what it was meant to achieve? I removed it and replaced with a zip tie to hold it against the carby so it could push the lever all the way to stop the motor.

Engine runs nice and quiet but it's running rough like it's out of tune. Instead of a smooth rhythmic beat it makes a sound like two motors going at once if someone knows what I'm describing?
What adjustments could I try?

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!
